Glencar Inn Saturday Division 1 Result

Drumbar United 9-2 Fintown Harps

Drumbar United’s senior men’s team ran out convincing winners at Brookfield on Saturday, in a game played in lovely conditions.

Drumbar started strongly and created a number of clear chances in the opening stages, but it was Fintown who struck first. Jamie McGonagle Quinn finished well to give the visitors the lead.

Less than five minutes later, Ghazi Jichi levelled the game, finishing off a fine team move. Paul Lagan then put Drumbar ahead just before half-time after capitalising on a loose ball to make it 2-1 at the break.

Just two minutes into the second half, Daniel Bennett doubled the advantage with a fine free-kick from 25 yards. Further goals from Andrew Monahan, Vincent Breslin and Jichi between the 60th and 70th minutes put Drumbar in control at 6-1. Fintown soon responded with a goal of their own to make it 6-2, but Drumbar finished the game strongly. Eoghan Gallagher was a constant threat throughout and added a fantastic hat-trick in the final 20 minutes to complete a comprehensive 9-2 victory.

Shout out to Cian Gallagher and Ethan Ryan on making their league debuts today.
