The South Donegal Mini World Cup is a unique grassroots football festival that brings together children, families and communities from across the region for a week of fun, friendship and football. Hosted by Drumbar United FC, and first undertaken in 2026, the event gives boys and girls the opportunity to represent a World Cup nation, pull on their country’s colours and experience the excitement of international tournament football in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Designed to celebrate participation as much as competition, the Mini World Cup creates lasting memories both on and off the pitch. Players are placed into teams representing countries from around the globe, creating a vibrant festival atmosphere filled with colour, teamwork and sporting spirit. Throughout the week, children enjoy regular matches, make new friends and develop their skills while being supported by coaches, volunteers and their families.
The tournament culminates in a special finals day where all teams come together to celebrate their achievements. Whether lifting a trophy, scoring a first goal or simply enjoying the occasion with teammates, every participant plays a part in making the South Donegal Mini World Cup a showcase of everything that is great about grassroots football: inclusion, community and developing a lifelong love of the game.
The Mini-World Cup is open to boys and girls between 5-12 years of age. There is no requirement to have any prior footballing experience, nor is there any obligation to be a Drumbar club member – we welcome and encourage participation from all players regardless of their club background.
