2026 South Donegal Mini World Cup

The inaugural South Donegal Mini World Cup, hosted by Drumbar United F.C. between the 9th-14th June 2026, proved to be an unforgettable celebration of grassroots football, community spirit and family fun.

Over the course of the week, almost 190 young footballers took part in the tournament, representing nations from across the globe and creating a festival atmosphere that captured the imagination of players and supporters alike.

Despite challenging weather conditions for the midweek sessions, the mood and enthusiasm for the competition never dipped. The tournament culminated in a glorious Sunday of sunshine as players, families and volunteers gathered for a spectacular World Cup Final day. The World Cup Parade, led by the Donegal Town Community Band and officially opened by Mayor of Donegal, Anna Gallagher, provided a fitting showcase of the colour, excitement and sense of occasion we aspired for the Mini World Cup to deliver.

Beyond the football, the event offered something for everyone. Families enjoyed refreshments from the McBrew coffee truck, treats from Mr Mac’s ice cream van and entertainment from face painters, all of which contributed to helping us create a festival atmosphere around the pitches.

The success of the 2026 South Donegal Mini World Cup is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers, coaches and supporters, whose efforts helped create a memorable experience for every child involved. As the final whistle blew on our first Mini-World Cup, there was a strong sense that this year’s event has set a high bar for future editions, and established the South Donegal Mini-World Cup as one of the centrepieces in the youth football calendar in the region.
